Buhari offered to support Osinbajo’s presidential bid four times, Akande says in response to Lawal

Laolu Akande, former spokesperson for Yemi Osinbajo, rejected Babachir Lawal’s claim that Muhammadu Buhari considered Osinbajo’s 2023 presidential ambition “highly immoral and distasteful.” Akande said Buhari personally offered at least four times to support the former vice-president and publicly praised his campaign at a Federal Executive Council meeting in 2022. Osinbajo finished third in the APC presidential primary in June 2022 with 235 votes, behind Rotimi Amaechi and Bola Tinubu, who won the contest.
