AFCON 2025: Morocco may not challenge CAS decision

Senegal and Morocco are awaiting a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling after Senegal’s football federation challenged the CAF decision awarding Morocco a 3–0 forfeit victory in the AFCON 2025 final. Senegal had won 1–0 on the pitch in Rabat on January 18, with Pape Gueye scoring in extra time after play was interrupted over a penalty awarded to Morocco, which Brahim Diaz missed. CAS could restore the on-field result and Senegal’s title or refer the case back to CAF for reconsideration. Morocco has no ordinary appeal on the merits against a CAS ruling, though a limited appeal to Switzerland’s Federal Supreme Court may be possible on specific procedural or legal grounds.
