Uyo Flooding: Gov Eno orders review of city's master-plan

In response to rising flooding incidents in Uyo, Governor Umo Eno has ordered a review of the city's urban drainage master plan with a consultant. Climate change, rapid urbanization, and human blockages are identified as key factors exacerbating floods, prompting efforts to develop a long-term solution. An environmental response team, the 'Clean Akwa Ibom Brigade', will be established to monitor flood-prone areas, and the government is exploring waste-to-energy and waste-to-wealth projects, including building a housing estate on reclaimed land. Waste management and infrastructure improvements are part of ongoing initiatives.
