French school protests send shivers down the government's spine

For nearly two weeks, high school students in the Seine-Saint-Denis area of northern Paris have been protesting, with the movement spreading across France. Violence has erupted, including the burning of a high school hall in Nantes and numerous fires at school entrances, causing millions of euros in damages. Education Minister Édouard Geffray reported 65 staff members injured, including 40 school principals, and around 2,000 people, mainly minors, taken into custody. The protests have expanded to universities, with students joining, and two teenagers have sustained serious eye injuries.
