Venezuela earthquakes toll rises to 3,889 as risk of disease grows

The death toll from the June 24 twin earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 3,889, with 16,740 injured and 17,907 displaced, according to lawmaker Jorge Rodrigues. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) warned of increased disease risk due to limited clean water and medical care, and urged immediate release of $15 million in emergency aid. The UN appealed for $300 million to assist 1.3 million people.
