Veteran journalists call for peaceful governorship election in Ekiti

The League of Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State has appealed to all stakeholders, particularly politicians, to avoid violence and ensure a free and fair poll in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 20 June 2026. In a communique issued after a monthly meeting at the NUJ Press Centre in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, the League, chaired by Prince Kayode Oni, noted that Ekiti has remained politically peaceful for a long time and expressed a desire for the trend to continue. The veteran journalists also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the election according to the rules without bias.
