Vice President Appointed, Terms Extended: Kamto Calls on Cameroonians to Resist

Maurice Kamto, leader of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), condemned an operation of 'institutional capture' following the appointment of a vice president and the extension of mandates for deputies and councilors. He claims that Paul Biya's regime, already contested, seeks to establish a 'republican monarchy with constitutional foundations'. Kamto emphasizes that neither the president, nor the deputies, nor the municipal and regional councilors are legitimate, highlighting an unprecedented political and institutional crisis in Cameroon.
