Victims of Ebonyi attack narrate ordeal, urge Nwifuru, police, DSS to intervene

Members of the Umunkpumente kindred in Ihie Autonomous Community, Ishiagu (Ebonyi), were attacked by thugs while holding a meeting after the murder of Fabian Okonkwo on April 16, 2026. They had petitioned the governor and police commissioner to investigate the assassination, leading to the arrest of community President General Chijoke Ume and his secretary Kenneth Kalu. The local government chairman demanded their release, but the victims now urge Governor Francis Nwifuru, Police Commissioner Hope Urunwa Okafor, and the DSS to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the masterminds.
