Visibly surprised, Al Aminou Lo takes a jab at Sonko: “How can he do that?”
Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo expressed surprise at Ousmane Sonko’s criticism of the management of special funds, noting that Sonko managed them himself for two and a half years without questioning their transparency. Sonko and his Pastef party have made their support for the supplementary budget conditional on controls over these funds. Al Aminou Lo said he was open to dialogue within a framework that respects constitutional requirements and each branch’s authority. The Constitutional Council annulled the law governing the funds on October 15 over a procedural flaw, and a plenary session on the supplementary budget is scheduled for October 27 at 10 a.m.
