Vodacom network outages disrupt economic activity in Aba, Haut-Uélé, for three weeks

Vodacom’s network has been unavailable for three weeks in the commercial center of Aba, in Faradje territory, Haut-Uélé, according to local civil society. As Vodacom is the only operator there, thousands of residents have lost access to communications, disrupting money transfers and the sale of airtime and internet packages. The closure of the border with Uganda has also made it harder for traders to order goods from Kampala and elsewhere in the DRC. The local civil society president is urging Vodacom to restore service quickly, while frequent outages have also been reported in Aru, Ariwara, and Bunia in Ituri.
