Vredenburg father jailed for life after raping daughter and knowingly exposing her to HIV

The Vredenburg Regional Court sentenced a 41-year-old man to life imprisonment after he admitted raping his 13-year-old daughter and exposing her to the risk of HIV while knowing he was HIV-positive. He received life for one rape count, 35 years for a second rape count and 25 years for attempted murder; the sentences will run concurrently. Under his plea agreement, he admitted driving the girl to a secluded area behind a beach in Paternoster on May 23, 2025, and raping her without a condom. The National Prosecuting Authority welcomed the sentence, saying he had abused the trust placed in him as the girl’s biological father.
