WACA ResIP: 26 Groynes Received as Project Closure Approaches

Togo has received 26 groynes built along the coast between Gbodjomé, Agbodrafo, Goumoukopé and Kpémé as part of the WACA ResIP project. The structures meet technical specifications, with final acceptance expected after the warranty period ending in October 2027; investment in the Gbodjomé-Agbodrafo-Goumoukopé stretch totals 33.48 billion CFA francs. By the end of September 2026, physical implementation stood at 70% and financial execution at 94%, while delayed contractors were urged to speed up work. The project is scheduled to close in June 2027, and authorities are preparing WACA+ to continue efforts against coastal erosion and flooding.

Discussions include the goal of protecting 30% of the world’s land and seas by 2030 and calls for Indigenous peoples, local communities, women, young people, cities, businesses and financial institutions to contribute more to conservation.
