Waititu and Wife to Remain in Custody Until November 27 in Ksh588.7 Million Graft Case

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his wife, Susan Wangari Ndung’u, will remain in custody in a graft case involving Ksh588.7 million. On October 22, Chief Magistrate Harrison Barasa adjourned sentencing proceedings after prosecutor Vincent Monda and defence lawyer Chris Mutuku disagreed over who should be sentenced. The matter was referred to the High Court for directions and is due to be mentioned on October 27; the accused are to remain in custody until November 27. Their convictions include conflict-of-interest offences and procurement irregularities tied to a Kiambu County road-upgrade contract awarded in 2017/2018.
