Walikale: At Least One Dead and Six Seriously Injured in Gunfire Attributed to FRN Rebels in Kangati

A five-year-old child was killed and six civilians were seriously injured on Wednesday, October 28, in Kangati, in the Waloa Yungu groupement of Walikale territory. Local customary sources said projectiles fired from Kibati and Kashebere, two areas under FRN rebel control, exploded in the village. The injured, whose condition is critical, were evacuated to a local health facility. Clashes between the FRN and the Congolese armed forces, supported by the wazalendo, continue to threaten civilians; the circumstances and final toll remain unclear.
