Walikale: Fragile Calm in Kibati After Two Days of Heavy Fighting Between the FARDC and the FRN

A fragile calm was reported on Saturday, November 7, in Kibati, Walikale territory, after two days of fighting between the FARDC, backed by wazalendo fighters, and rebels from the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN). The two sides continue to share control of the town. Sources in Kashebere reported that FRN reinforcements, including fighters and ammunition from Nyabiondo, were moving toward Kibati, raising fears of renewed clashes. The toll is unknown, though local sources report deaths and injuries on both sides.
