Walikale: To Prevent Maternal Deaths, MSF-Holland Supports Free Maternity Care Activities in Sacré Cœur Health Area

Pregnant women in the Sacré Cœur health area of Walikale now benefit from free maternity care thanks to support from MSF-Holland. The three-month project, launched on October 1, 2026, aims to bring maternal health services closer to the community and reduce congestion at Walikale General Hospital, where over 80% of pregnant women give birth, with up to 500 deliveries per month. The health center has been renovated, equipped with solar power and medical supplies, with a goal of around 80 deliveries per month.
