War in the East: Women from Goma demand effective ceasefire

Women from Goma demanded an effective ceasefire in eastern DRC after a high-level strategic meeting of the Advisory Committee on Women, Peace and Security in the Great Lakes region, held in Nairobi from June 3-4, 2026. Due to the Ebola crisis and border restrictions, they participated online from MONUSCO facilities in Goma. Nathalie Kone Traoré from MONUSCO's gender section welcomed their participation and stressed the importance of women's voices from eastern DRC in peace efforts.
