Watch: Student hoisted to safety after fall in Jonkershoek

A Stellenbosch University student was rescued by helicopter after falling approximately four meters on wet rocks in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve on October 9. He was hiking with five companions when he slipped while scrambling towards the upper waterfall, sustaining injuries that prevented him from continuing. The other hikers evacuated the ravine to call for help, and rescue teams used a harness to hoist him into the helicopter before flying him to hospital. His condition was not disclosed.
