Wellington Clinics denies involvement in alleged kidney transplant deal

Wellington Clinics in Abuja denied any involvement in a financial transaction related to a controversial kidney transplant performed at its facility. The hospital stated that the procedure was conducted by an independent medical team led by Dr. Benjamin Friday Oyimeh. The donor, identified as Abubakar Hassan, was admitted on April 24, 2026, and underwent a nephrectomy the same day, later being readmitted for post-operative care.
