Bill Gates, whose father died of Alzheimer's disease in 2020, states that Alzheimer's research is entering a golden age. Simple blood tests now enable diagnosis, accelerating clinical trial enrollment. The FDA has approved the first two treatments proven to modestly slow progression, and preliminary data suggest they may be more impactful when given early. In the US, the number of patients has grown from 5.5 million in 2017 to 7.4 million today.
