The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness has begun the phased rollout of Lenacapavir, a long-acting HIV prevention medication, at 22 healthcare facilities. Administered as an injection every six months, it provides an alternative to daily oral PrEP. MEC Mireille Wenger hailed it as a major scientific breakthrough. Participating facilities include Khayelitsha, Phumlani, Weltevreden Valley, and others.
