What to know about Brazil's election pitting Lula against Flávio Bolsonaro

Brazilian voters are casting their ballots in an election where left-wing incumbent Lula faces off against right-wing candidate Flávio Bolsonaro. Jair Bolsonaro, Flávio's father, is not running due to a 27-year prison sentence for plotting a coup, but his influence remains through a deepfake video endorsing Flávio. Polls show Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro leading with around 40% each, with the other 11 candidates polling at 4% or less. A runoff will occur if no candidate secures over 50%.
