A shooting occurred on Tuesday, June 16, in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, at the ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital, just 17 minutes from the Hotel du Pont where the Ivory Coast national football team (the Elephants) are staying for the 2026 World Cup. Two people were injured by gunfire, and an investigation has been launched by Wilmington police, New Castle County police, Delaware State Police, and the FBI. The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) reassured that the team is safe and continues its preparation as normal.
