What’s at stake in Benin’s presidential election?

Benin will elect a new president on Sunday, favoring the governing party's candidate after a decade in power. Outgoing President Patrice Talon is barred from running again after two terms. The main opposition party, the Democrats, failed to secure enough lawmakers to sponsor a candidate, resulting in an election with only two candidates. About eight million eligible voters will participate in the election.
