What’s behind Iranian authorities’ push for a mass mobilisation campaign?

Iranian authorities have initiated a mobilization campaign called Janfada to train and arm volunteer civilians within the Basij militia of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. During a public military exercise in Tehran, thousands of participants, including children and women, marched through the streets. Although authorities claimed that 313,000 people would participate, footage broadcast by state television did not support this figure.
