Wheelchair Basketball World Cup: Leopards women target a medal, says federation president

A few weeks before their first Wheelchair Basketball World Cup, the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Leopards women are preparing in Kinshasa after travelling there from several provinces. Federation president Gege Kizubanata said the nearly complete team would leave for South Africa in about ten days for a training camp before travelling on to Brazil. He said authorities had given assurances about support and bonuses for the players. The DRC, the tournament’s only African representative, is targeting a podium finish after rising from third place on the continent to African champions.
