Wheelchair Basketball/2026 World Cup: “DRC doesn’t just want to participate; it wants a podium finish” (Gege Kizubanata)

The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s women’s wheelchair basketball team has begun preparations for the World Cup finals, scheduled for Brazil in February 2027. FECOBAF president Gege Kizubanata says the team is aiming for a medal and began its preparations six months in advance. He praised the support of the government and the president, noting that players have come from provinces including Goma and Ituri. The team’s program includes preparation and acclimatization in South Africa, followed by a final training camp in Thailand.
