When streets become a workplace: Gaza workers convert tents into offices

Since the start of the conflict in October 2023, Gaza has seen professionals working from tents due to the destruction of their offices by Israeli airstrikes. Dr Mohammed al-Khalidi, a prosthetics specialist, has been working from a tent in al-Mawasi after his clinics in Rafah and Khan Younis were destroyed. Limited space, unreliable electricity, heat, and noise pose challenges, but they prefer to continue working rather than cease services. There is a high demand for prosthetics, with between 5,000 and 6,000 amputees recorded between October 2023 and October 2025.
