“Where is the structure?” — OK Movement questions NDC campaign council list

Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement Director-General John Ughulu criticised the timing of the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s National Campaign Council announcement for the 2027 general elections, saying the party lacks an adequate grassroots network. He claimed the OK Movement has built a stronger structure and predicted that council members would seek its support and mobilisation network. The NDC named Senator Seriake Dickson as council chairman, Peter Obi as co-chairman and Rabiu Kwankwaso as co-vice-chairman; Ughulu and the movement’s local coordinators were not included. The dispute reflects growing tensions over the movement’s organisational independence and its role in campaigning for Obi and Kwankwaso.

The decision follows a thaw in relations after a 2025 diplomatic rift and comes after Algeria provided military assistance to Niger in 2026.
