Why adults are going back to summer camp

Increasing numbers of adults are turning to summer camps to counter loneliness and burnout, make friends, or connect with colleagues. In July 2026, Aleksey Aronov took his New York City clinic team to Camp No Counselors, where campfires and shared activities helped new and shy staff bond. Mia Morin, 29, and her husband attended YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth in Ontario in 2025 to meet people and exchange ideas. Adult retreats now combine outdoor activities and crafts with perks such as open bars, wine tastings, chef-prepared meals, and wellness programming; Yelp reported a 347 percent rise in searches for “adult camps” from September 2023 to August 2024.
