Why Africa seeks alternative global tax regime

Africa and other Global South members are negotiating at the United Nations to establish a convention on international tax cooperation, aiming to ensure multinationals pay appropriate taxes where they operate. This initiative is also expected to address illicit financial flows, including corruption and tax evasion, which drain an estimated $1 trillion annually from developing countries.
