Why Fela is not originator of Afrobeats — Tekno

Nigerian singer Tekno questioned the attribution of Afrobeats' origins to the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti during an interview in New York. He emphasized that several Nigerian music pioneers, particularly from the eastern part of the country like Oliver De Coque, significantly contributed to the genre's evolution. Tekno also noted that indigenous musical traditions played a role in the development of contemporary Afrobeats.
