Why has Greece signed a $3.5bn missile deal with Israel?

Greece has signed a $3.5bn arms deal with Israel for a multi-layered air defense system, the largest ever between the two countries. This agreement is part of Athens' plans to modernize its military by 2030 and includes the defense system known as the Achilles Shield. The delivery of this system will occur in stages and is expected to reach full operational readiness within 35 months.
