Pakistan's parliament passed the Defence Forces of Pakistan Act in late August, outlining the powers of the country's senior military office for the first time. This reform follows last November's constitutional amendment and represents the most significant restructuring of military command since 1976. The position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee has been abolished and replaced by a Defence Forces Headquarters, headed by the CDF, currently Field Marshal Asim Munir.
