Kongo-Central Veterinary Clinic threatened by sale of plots on its grounds

The Kongo-Central Provincial Veterinary Clinic could lose its grounds as the YMCA sells plots from the site. Boniface Phanzu, head of the provincial Fisheries and Livestock Division, is urging authorities to intervene and questions the sales; a land-sharing document reportedly allocates 60% of the property to the YMCA and 40% to the provincial government. He suggests giving the YMCA another site and reserving the remaining land for the National Institute of Biomedical Research (INRB) to establish a veterinary biomedical testing laboratory and strengthen surveillance of diseases that spread between animals and humans. The area involved and the number of plots sold were not specified.
