Wildfires burn across UK as fire chiefs warn of extreme pressure

Wildfires continue to burn across the UK, with around 19 active fires. National Fire Chiefs Council chair Phil Garrigan warned that the prolonged heatwave is putting extreme pressure on firefighters, with no rain forecast. Major incidents were declared in Conwy, Wales, and Glossop, Derbyshire. A fire in the Peak District has burned 260 hectares, and a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of arson after fireworks were set off.
