With the Baleine field, Ivory Coast looks beyond oil

The Baleine field, discovered in 2021 off the coast of Ivory Coast by Eni and PETROCI, reached a production of 60,000 barrels of oil per day and 70 million cubic feet of gas in phase 2 at the end of 2024. The gas component is crucial for the country's energy security, as Ivory Coast produces most of its electricity from gas and exports to neighboring countries. The project strengthens Ivory Coast's regional role in West African energy balance.
