Woman, 65, becomes second patient to die of Ebola in Kenya

Kenya has recorded its second Ebola death during the country’s first outbreak of the disease. The victim, a 65-year-old woman and close relative of the first patient, died after being quarantined and developing symptoms on 13 October. Seven other people, including three relatives, three health workers and a hospital cleaner, are being treated at two isolation facilities; officials say the cases are part of one cluster, with no evidence of community spread. Kenya has stepped up screening of travellers from ten high-risk countries, while the US has warned its citizens against travelling there.

An additional $81 million in financing for Togo was approved in December 2025.
