World Bank Open Days: Water Sector a Priority Project for the Ivorian Government

During the World Bank Open Days in Abidjan on September 21, 2026, Dr. Amédé Koffi Kouakou, Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation, and Salubrity, emphasized the importance of access to drinking water, especially in rural areas, with an initial funding of $1.2 billion for the Water and Sanitation Pact. He mentioned a broader program of $825 million from the World Bank and a planned investment of $5.8 billion by 2035 to expand coverage across the country. The situation in Abidjan, with a daily water production of about one million cubic meters, was also discussed.
