On October 1, 2025, the Ivory Coast Council of Ministers approved a reform allowing children under 21 who have lost a single parent to receive an orphan pension, regardless of parental marriage status. This applies to children whose deceased parent was affiliated with CNPS or IPS-CGRAE, increasing beneficiaries from under 200 to over 1,800 in 2026. The pension is split with 50% going to the surviving spouse and the remaining to the children, expanding social protection for vulnerable families.
