Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, revealed that South Africa has yet to sign a proposed Memorandum of Understanding for the protection of Nigerians six years after discussions began. The agreement, known as the Early Warning Signal Mechanism, is intended to compel South African authorities to respond swiftly during xenophobic attacks. She also noted that the Nigerian Foreign Minister is continuing diplomatic efforts to finalize the agreement.
