Central African Mahamat Saïd Abdel Kani convicted of crimes against humanity

Rebel commander Mahamat Saïd Abdel Kani has been convicted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. He was found guilty of torturing prisoners in a detention center in Bangui during clashes between Seleka rebels and the anti-Balaka militia. Court President Miatta Maria Samba stated that he was guilty of imprisoning or severely depriving at least 39 individuals of their liberty, while being acquitted for 19 others. The court in The Hague is now set to pronounce his sentence.
