Yaoundé bypass: Paul Biya authorizes signing of CFAF 129.1 billion in European financing

By a decree dated November 5, 2026, President Paul Biya authorized the economy minister to sign financing agreements worth about CFAF 129.1 billion for priority section T3 of the Yaoundé bypass. The package includes a €150 million loan, equivalent to about CFAF 98.4 billion, from the European Investment Bank and a €46.86 million European Union contribution, or nearly CFAF 30.7 billion, including investment grant funding and technical assistance. The amounts had already been presented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in March 2026. The authorization does not mean the agreements have been signed or that funds have been disbursed.
