Yaoundé: Loyal Companion to Paul Biya, Niat Njifenji Passes Away at 92

Marcel Niat Njifenji, former Senate President and close collaborator of Paul Biya, passed away on April 11, 2026, in Yaoundé at the age of 92. An engineer by training, he played a key role in the development of the electricity sector in Cameroon, notably as the general director of SONEL. Elected senator in 2013, he also served as mayor of Bangangté and held several ministerial positions throughout his political career.
