Yemen’s government says Houthis fired two missiles at Aden airport

Yemeni Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said two missiles landed near the runway at Aden International Airport on Friday, about 500 metres from an aircraft preparing to take off. Passengers and crew were safe, he said, condemning the attack as a grave violation of international law. The Houthis said they had targeted the Saudi forces’ command headquarters at Badr camp in Aden province, as well as a weapons depot. The strike came amid intensifying civil-war fighting, as government forces claimed advances in Marib province.

Yamenya Youssouph Affair: Burkina Faso Reminds Artists of Their Obligations Abroad

Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism has reminded artists and cultural professionals that a 2025 regulation requires them to notify the country’s diplomatic and consular missions when travelling abroad for work. The rule is intended to coordinate trips, promote Burkinabè culture and help protect artists overseas. The reminder comes amid controversy in Côte d’Ivoire over comments by Yamenya Youssouph, known as Issouf Manem-yam, about Ivorian nationality and LGBTQ people; his concert scheduled for October 17 in Port-Bouët, Abidjan, was cancelled. The municipality also cited the alleged unauthorized use of the deputy mayor’s image and alleged insulting remarks about the president, an accusation that has not been verified.

Italy probes Israel’s Katz over abuse, sexual assault of flotilla activists

Rome prosecutors have placed Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz and 12 senior military, police and prison officials under investigation over alleged abuses of activists aboard Gaza-bound flotillas. The investigation followed complaints by 50 Italian citizens detained during two Global Sumud Flotilla missions in 2025 and 2026; Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir is also among the suspects. Activists reported beatings, death threats and at least 15 alleged sexual assaults, including rape, while those detained after the 2026 mission also reported taser and rubber-bullet use. The case expands an Italian investigation that had previously focused on National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
