Yobe State plans to establish a specialized commission to address violations of children’s rights and improve their protection. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Abubakar Bukar Kagu said the Ministry of Justice is drafting a proposal for Governor Mai Mala Buni to consider. With its own staff and budget, the commission could receive complaints, investigate cases, summon people and refer matters for prosecution. The proposal responds to gaps in existing structures and children’s increased vulnerability after years of insurgency.
