Yoff: Two Fake Marabouts Arrested Over Alleged 60 Million FCFA Scam

Two men, A. D., 67, and O. S., 42, were arrested in Yoff by gendarmes from the Foire territorial brigade. They are suspected of defrauding merchant S. Diop, whom A. D. reportedly met in Kaolack, of more than 60 million FCFA by promising mystical baths, prayers and sacrifices to improve his prospects. The suspects allegedly sought another 700,000 FCFA for a sacrifice to release a djinn, and officers arrested them at the planned handover. They were held in custody on suspicion of charlatanism and fraud, then referred to Dakar’s High Court.
