‘You lied’: Osinbajo’s former aide Akande blasts Babachir Lawal

Laolu Akande, former spokesperson for Nigerian ex-vice president Yemi Osinbajo, rejected allegations made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal. Lawal had claimed that Muhammadu Buhari considered it immoral and distasteful for Osinbajo to run against Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, and that Buhari could not back Osinbajo because of his longstanding relationship with Tinubu. Akande called the claims false and said records from the Buhari administration contradict them. He said he was responding because he witnessed some of the disputed decisions and the allegations concerned staff in the vice president’s office.
