Youth and Political Engagement in Africa: Patriotism or Quest for Social Security?

In Benin, some youth engage in politics out of economic opportunism, seeing parties as a means to obtain jobs or handouts, which corrupts the noble meaning of politics. But another educated and connected youth activists out of patriotism to demand accountability and fight corruption. The article questions the real motivations behind this massive engagement.
