Youth Olympic Games: Swiss and Senegalese wrestlers meet

Swiss and Senegalese wrestlers faced off on Sunday in the suburbs of Dakar in a cultural exchange held alongside the Youth Olympic Games, which opened in Senegal on Saturday. They tried each other’s traditional wrestling outfits: the Swiss wore Senegalese wrestling attire, while the Senegalese put on the thick shorts used in Schwingen. Swiss wrestler Matthieu Burger praised the meeting, saying their shared passion brought them together despite differences between the two non-Olympic sports. The initiative aims to strengthen ties between the countries and create new opportunities for young wrestlers.
